Contemporary Art Gallery (San Juan), marked a turning point in his career as an artist, in which blue pigment often played
a key role. We took the opportunity to meet Roche Rabell in his element: surrounded by his paintings. The artist welcomed us with a broad smile and his hands still smudged with paint stains. We knew that was the perfect moment to interview him.

Abstract: Roberto Silva returns to Puerto Rico with Reducto, an exhibition that opened on June 2nd at the Artífice Gallery in Old San Juan. We met the artist to discuss the importance of memory as a creative impulse, and the role of the artist as an agent reclaiming the pictorial tradition. Originally published in Spanish in June 2016.

Resumen: Roberto Silva regresa a Puerto Rico con la exhibición Reducto, cuya inauguración tuvo lugar el pasado 2 de junio en la Galería Artífice del Viejo San Juan. Nos reunimos con el artista para abordar la trascendencia de la memoria como impulso creador y el papel del artista como agente reivindicativo de la tradición pictórica. Resumen: La exposición de Arnaldo Roche Rabell en febrero de 2016, El territorio del alma, en la Galería de Arte Contemporáneo Walter Otero (San Juan), marcó un punto de inflexión en su carrera como artista, en la que el pigmento azul a menudo desempeñaba un papel clave. Aprovechamos la oportunidad para conocer a Roche Rabell en su elemento: rodeado de sus pinturas. El artista nos recibió con una amplia sonrisa y sus manos aún manchadas con manchas de pintura. Sabíamos que era el momento perfecto para entrevistarlo.

Abstract: The universe, darkness, and chaos are cardinal components in André Pagano’s exhibition, Dark Matters: As Above, So Below. Artist run-space La Productora embraces the project of this Puerto Rican artist, who lives in New York City, and who poses disorder and confusion as fundamental ingredients in his creative process and way of life.
