Resumen: The Joke is on You y Repatriación, dos exhibiciones abiertas en la Galería Embajada y en el Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, respectivamente, contagian a dos de sus visitantes del particular sentido de humor que despliegan sus artistas, y de la nostalgia y el dolor que recogen sus paredes en muchas ocasiones.

Abstract: The Joke is on You and Repatriación, two exhibitions at the Galería Embajada and the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, respectively, infect two of their visitors with the particular sense of humor displayed by the artists, and with the nostalgia and pain that their walls often show.

Crossover en WOCA

Resumen: Crossing the Line fue una exhibición de pinturas del artista estadounidense Anthony Gianni. Realizada a modo de narración, giró en torno a la ceremonia de línea de cruce, en la que se realiza un ritual de iniciación a los marineros mercantes que cruzarán la línea del Ecuador por primera vez, para asegurarse que la tripulación tolerará los tiempos difíciles en altamar. Crossing the Line estuvo abierta al público hasta el 6 de marzo de 2014 en Walter Otero Contemporary Art.

Abstract: Crossing the Line was an exhibition of paintings by American artist Anthony Gianni. Carried out as a narrative, which revolved around the ceremony of the crossing line, in which a ritual of initiation is performed for the merchant sailors who will cross the Ecuator line for the first time, to ensure that the crew will tolerate the difficult times at sea. Crossing the Line, was open to the public until March 6, 2014 at the Walter Otero Contemporary Art Gallery.

De criollismos y realidades

Resumen: De fábulas y quimeras fue el título de una exhibición colectiva a cargo de la curadora Bianca Ortiz, en la cual nos presentó un grupo de artistas diversos en cuanto a medios, temáticas y estilo, que otorgan protagonismo a la figura animal en su obra. Esta iniciativa se prestó a la apertura de diálogos entre géneros visuales y literarios, valiéndose de figuras fantásticas, teriomórficas, mitológicas y espirituales. La exhibición se presentó en Área: Lugar de Proyectos, de diciembre 2013 a enero de 2014.

Abstract: De fábulas y quimeras [On Fables and Chimeras] was a group exhibition curated by Bianca Ortiz, in which she presented a group of diverse artists, in terms of the media, issues, and style they address, working in animals as a main subject. This initiative invited to open some dialogues between visual and literary genres, using fantastic, theriomorphic, mythological and spiritual figures. It was open in Área: Lugar de Proyectos, from December 2013 to January 2014.

Resumen: El espacio de exhibiciones Recinto Cerra, en Santurce, fue escenario de la reciente exhibición de Nathan Budoff, abierta hasta entre agosto y septiembre de 2013. Bajo el título de Retrato, la exhibición reunió varias pinturas que parecen representar un diario personal y familiar del artista.

Abstract: Recinto Cerra is a space in Santurce, where Nathan Budoff’s recent exhibition was opened in August and September 2013. The show was entitled Portrait, and it brought together some paintings that seem to represent a personal and family diary of the artist.

Resumen: La primera exhibición individual de Tony Rodríguez abrió el 13 de junio de 2013 en la galería Espacio 20-20, La muestra, titulada Pandamonium, estuvo compuesta por varias pinturas, y fue curada por el artista y curador Abdiel Segarra.

Abstract: Tony Rodriguez’s first solo exhibition opened in June 13th, 2013, at the Espacio 20-20 Gallery. The exhibition, titled Pandamonium, included several paintings, and was curated by artist and curator Abdiel Segarra.

Resumen: La galería Roberto Paradise presentó el trabajo de los artistas estadounidenses Austin Eddy y Karla Wozniak. El primero ofrece una muestra de pinturas en blanco y negro responden al tema de las emociones humanas. La segunda exhibe una serie de obras en papel de pequeño formato como parte del Trailer Park Proyects. Con este tipo de iniciativas queda clara intención de esta galaería de cultivar lazos profesionales con artistas e instituciones internacionales, al tiempo que ofrece a su público un vistazo a otras escenas artísticas lejos de Puerto Rico.

Abstract: Roberto Paradise gallery presented the work of the American artists Austin Eddy and Karla Wozniak. The first one exhibited black and white paintings that responded to the topic of the human emotions. The second one showed a series of small format artworks on paper, as part of the Trailer Park Proyects. With this type of initiatives, this gallery makes clear the intention of cultivating professional relationships with international artists and institutions, while offering their public a sneak peek to other art scenes away from Puerto Rico.
