Irene Delano y la perfección de la imagen

Resumen: Irene Delano es una figura clave en la historia de las artes gráficas puertorriqueñas del siglo XX. Una reciente exposición en el Museo Casa del Libro rinde homenaje a su trabajo en conmemoración por su centenario. La muestra viene a revisar sus numerosas aportaciones, a la vez que reúne gran parte de su obra, entre la que destaca el diseño de libros, tarjetas navideñas e ilustraciones.

Abstract: Irene Delano is a key figure for Puerto Rican history of printing during the 20th century. A recent exhibition at the Museo Casa del Libro pays tribute to her work in commemoration of her 100th birthday. The exhibition reviews her numerous contributions, while gathering much of her artworks, among which the design of books, Christmas cards and illustrations stand out.

Colectivo Marvelous: homenaje a los cómics

Resumen: La Galería Mondo Bizarro: Arte y Cómics, operada por Luis C. Parés y Yasmine Stella Léede (Pernicious Press) inauguró el 24 de mayo la muestra Colectivo Marvelous, que sirve de homenaje a la influencia de los comics de la compañía Marvel, en la producción artística y memoria colectiva de los artistas contemporáneos.

Abstract: Mondo Bizarro Gallery: Art and Comics, directed by Luis C. Parés and Yasmine Stella Léede (Pernicious Press) opened the exhibition Marvelous Collective (Colectivo Marvelous) on May 24th 2013, paying homage to the influence of Marvel comics on the artistic production and collective memory of contemporary artists.

Resumen: El 5 de abril de 2013 se presentó por vez primera “La Mini”, una pequeña feria de arte y diseño contemporáneo en La Productora -en la calle Cerra, en Santurce- que propuso un diálogo con otros proyectos en la escena artística del área. Su coordinador, Martín Albarrán, buscaba proveer una plataforma con posibilidades de mercadeo para los artistas participantes. Además, la iniciativa tenía intención de celebrarse más de una vez al año con diferentes artistas de dentro y fuera de Puerto Rico, buscando la integración de galerías e instituciones artísticas, para luego expandirse físicamente.

Abstract: On April 5th 2013, “La Mini” was presented for the first time. It was a small contemporary art and design fair of La Productora -at Cerra Street in Santurce-, which proposed a dialogue with other projects in the artistic scene of this area. Its coordinator, Martín Albarrán, sought to provide a platform with marketing possibilities for artists. In addition, the initiative aims to be held more than once a year with different artists from inside and outside of Puerto Rico, seeking the integration of galleries and art institutions, and then expanding physically.
