Abstract: José R. Oliver has been an outstanding painter in Puerto Rican art of the 20th century. In this essay, José Correa Vigier analyzes his career, both artistic and institutional, his interests, and the symbolism he used in his most of his work.

Resumen: Presentada como parte del programa de celebración de los 500 años de la fundación de Arecibo, Prisma: Pinturas de José R. Oliver convierte el espacio del Museo de Arte e Historia de la ciudad en el testimonio visual del importante legado de este pintor arecibeño a la historia del arte en Puerto Rico.

Abstract: Presented as part of the program to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Foundation of Arecibo, Prisma: Pinturas de José R. Oliver (Foundation of Arecibo, Prism: Paintings by José R) turns the space in the Museum of Art and History of the city into a visual testimony of the important legacy of this painter in the History of Art in Puerto Rico.
