Resumen: José R. Oliver ha sido un pintor de gran relevancia para el arte puertorriqueño del siglo XX. Su trayectoria, tanto artística como institucional, sus intereses, así como la simbología de una buena parte de su producción son producto del análisis de José Correa Vigier.
Abstract: José R. Oliver has been an outstanding painter in Puerto Rican art of the 20th century. In this essay, José Correa Vigier analyzes his career, both artistic and institutional, his interests, and the symbolism he used in his most of his work.
