Resumen:<\/strong> El libro Puerto Ricans Underwater<\/em>, de Ad\u00e1l Maldonado, publicado a fines del a\u00f1o pasado con un dise\u00f1o de Bold Destrou, re\u00fane una serie de fotograf\u00edas que el artista ha tomado desde 2016 y que han aparecido de manera intermitente en las redes sociales. En este proyecto, Ad\u00e1l ha retratado una colecci\u00f3n de personajes, tanto amigos como extra\u00f1os, inmersos en la ba\u00f1era de su hogar en Santurce. Aunque Ad\u00e1l inicialmente intent\u00f3 explorar tanto la condici\u00f3n colonial de Puerto Rico como su dif\u00edcil situaci\u00f3n socioecon\u00f3mica, es inevitable vincular estas im\u00e1genes con las circunstancias actuales de la isla dada la devastaci\u00f3n causada por los huracanes Irma y Mar\u00eda en septiembre de 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:<\/strong> The book Puerto Ricans Underwater<\/em>, by Ad\u00e1l Maldonado, published late last year with a design by Bold Destrou, brings together a series of photographs which the artist has been taking since 2016, and which have appeared intermittently on social media. In this project, Ad\u00e1l has portrayed a collection of characters\u2014friends as well as strangers\u2014immersed in the bathtub of his Santurce home. Although Ad\u00e1l initially sought to explore both the colonial condition of Puerto Rico and its difficult socio-economic situation, it is inevitable to link these images with the island\u2019s current circumstances given the devastation brought by hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n
