Resumen:<\/strong> Entender las im\u00e1genes y los artefactos a trav\u00e9s de su funci\u00f3n dentro de su contexto espacial y cultural es la premisa que parece guiar la propuesta curatorial de la exhibici\u00f3n Behind Closed Doors: Art in the Spanish American Home, 1492-1898.<\/em> La muestra examina las producciones art\u00edsticas destinadas al uso dom\u00e9stico dentro del contexto de las casas de los miembros de las \u00e9lites en los virreinatos de Am\u00e9rica y en los territorios del Caribe hisp\u00e1nico, entre las que se incluyen obras de Jos\u00e9 Campeche y Francisco Oller.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract:<\/strong> Understanding images and artifacts through their purpose within their spatial and cultural context is the premise that seems to guide the curatorial proposal of the exhibition Behind Closed Doors: Art in the Spanish American Home, 1492-1898.<\/em> The exhibition examines the artistic productions destined for domestic use within the context of the homes of elite members in the vice-royalties of America and the territories of the Hispanic Caribbean, including works by Jos\u00e9 Campeche and Francisco Oller.<\/span><\/p>\n
