Mission, focus and editorial policy

Mission

Romanitas hopes to constitute itself as a forum of ideas in which the understanding that emanates from or surrounds Romance languages literatures and cultures will be presented, described and spread, in a synergic manner, not only in their European cradle but also in societies in which these languages are rooted as a result of mutual discovery between the old continent and the new worlds of the Americas, of Africa, of Asia and of the Pacific.

Focus

Romanitas will publish articles and reviews of critical, cultural, and literary interest with a focus on Romance speaking societies. The essays can be:

articles based upon research
theoretical essays
reviews of recently published books
interviews of distinguished authors in the fields of linguistics or literature brief notes
annotated bibliographies

In addition, we will publish interdisciplinary articles focused upon the relationship among disciplines and related areas such as cinema the plastic arts, philosophy, history theater and music. We also encourage the most recent academic approaches.

Editorial policy

Romanitas is guided by a free editorial thematic. Nevertheless, according to the circumstances, it will also publish monographic issues. Even in these monographic issues, articles on a different theme may be published according to their merits.

The Editorial board assisted in its work by the Advisory Board will offer constructive criticism of the submissions received if circumstances warrant it. The criticism will center upon the content of the article, however, when necessary, it will also offer advice to the submitters concerning the form and presentation of the articles.
