Brief biography |

Dr. Dannabang Kuwabong, a Ghanaian-Canadian, has lived, studied, and worked in various countries of the world including Ghana, Britain, Nigeria, Canada, and is presently a Full Professor of Caribbean Literature and Culture at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, San Juan. Dr. Kuwabong obtained his doctoral degree in English, McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada with a dissertation titled, Apocrypha of Nanny's Secrets: The Rhetoric of Recovery in Africaribbean Women’s Poetry; a Magisteriate in Environmental Studies (MES) in Environmental Studies, York University, Toronto, Canada; with a thesis titled, Myth in Environmental Thought: The Case of Dagaaba Bagre; a Master of Letters (MLITT) in Modern Poetry in English, University of Stirling, Stirling, UK, with a thesis titled, Religion, Town, and Countryside in Three Irish Poets after Yeats: Austin Clarke, Patrick Kavanagh and Seamus Heaney. Dr. Kuwabong obtained a Bachelor of Arts(Honors) degree in English with Modern History from the University of Ghana, Legon, and wrote an undergraduate thesis, Astral Influences on Character Motivation and Behaviour in Chaucer’s Poetry.
Dr. Kuwabong has published widely on different fields in academic journals, contributed numerous essays in books and journals. Dr. Kuwabong has co-authored books, edited academic journals, and is on the editorial boards of various journals. His work has appeared in ARIEL: A Review of International English Literature, Journal for the Association for Research on Mothering, Journal of Dagaare Studies, La Torre, Sargasso, Canadian Women’s Studies /les cahiers de la femmes, Universitas, among others. Dr. Kuwabong is a poet with three books of poetry: Visions of Venom, Echoes from Dusty Rivers, Caribbean Blues and Love’s Genealogy. As a folklorist, Dr. Kuwabong has a book of folktales: Naa Konga: A Collection of Dagaaba Folktales. As an educator, he co-authored the English textbooks for Senior High School English Textbooks I, II, III.
Dr. Kuwabong has taught in several institutions of higher learning, including The Rivers State College of Education, Port-Harcourt, Nigeria, University of Port-Harcourt, Nigeria, University of Ghana, Ghana, McMaster University, Canada, and now teaches full-time at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus, San Juan.
