Information Session: Carnegie Mellon University

Over the past 5 years, we have regularly welcomed students from UPR and have provided a total of scholarship funding offers in excess of over $175,000. I am returning for my second year in a row to present the graduate programs we offer, a “peek behind the graduate admissions process”, and details on how to fund graduate studies. It is my hope that you can share the attached poster with your students to help promote this event and encourage advance registration. I will be offering 2 information sessions on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Pizza and drinks will be provided.

The (all expenses paid) Summer Fellowship programs we offered include:

  • Public Policy and International Affairs Program (PPIA) Junior Summer Institute (JSI)
    • PPIA is a national fellowship program that prepares students for an advanced degree and ultimately for careers and influential roles serving the public good. The PPIA-JSI is a rigorous seven-week training offered each summer for rising college seniors, with coursework focused on quantitative, analytical, and communication skills. From a highly selective and competitive national application pool, the composition of each PPIA-JSI class reflects academic, ethnic, regional, sexual orientation, gender, religious belief, and age diversity, as well as the potential and demonstrated leadership necessary to positively impact the public sector. CMU’s Heinz College is 1 of 6 JSI hosts schools.
  • IT Lab: Summer Security Intensive (SSI)
    • Whether you are interested in IT, data analytics, or cybersecurity, SSI delivers an excellent summer experience. Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy is home to the most well-regarded master’s programs in IT Management and Information Security in the world.
